My 4th grade cousin and I are stuck on a simple problem, what is the geometric shape of a kite and she said her teacher told her it is not a diamond.

a rhombus is a unique 4-sided polygon with the following characteristics

1. all four sides are equal in length
2. opposite corners have the same angular measurement
3. two pairs of parallel sides

a rhombus is a type of parallelogram, which is a type of quadrilateral, which is a 4-sided polygon.

look up rhombus in yahoo or google. you will see pictures that resemble a kite.

A rhombus or a square. A diamond is a square is a rhombus.

there is actually a geometric figure called a kite...but it could just be a quadrilateral

I think it is an un-fair question. Kites can be any shape.

it isn't. two congruent pairs of consecutive sides. two pairs of congruent line segments pairs are next to each other.
