In addition to knowing the reasons that you have for the things that you do, one should also know the social aspects of one's development.

I am not sure on this one. I am in a philosphy class right now, we learned about Socrates the first week. I know he was searching for someone who could be wiser than he. The oracle said Socrates was the wisest. He made alot of people mad and was charged with what I believe was false charges and then put to death.

I believe from what I learned that we should know what we believe in and stick to it. We shouldn't let others influence the way we believe.

Now I could be completely off on this one so you may want to see if you can find some web sites that can help you.

The oracle indicated that Socrates was the wisest of all men because he professed not to know anything. But, was this a ploy to bring down others a few pegs (those presumptuous, pompous and superficial individuals)? Or was the oracle correct in assessing that he was the wisest for recognizing his limitations? Is it for this reason that he is attributed (and 4 others) with saying "Know thyself" to indicate that he recognized his limitations and his weaknesses and that he worked from that point, and therefore set out to question those around him that professed to know more? Before you go about making a change, you must first know and acknowledge your present state as a point of reference.
