Common opinion around many sociologists and politicians in Europe is that the US are a pseudodemocracy, where people are "free" only on account of the fact that the government actually has a strict control on society and citizens. The government is becoming more and more like Orwell's big brother, monitoring telecommunications round the clock, screening citizens and monitoring the whole country for multiple reasons. It's the perfect situation for a government.
Someone defined the US like a huge ZOO where the animals don't feel prisoners just because there are no visible fences and the borders of the reserve are very wide......but it remains a Zoo.
On the other hand, US always had a double sided approach to foreign policy, too; something which is making them appear less "friendly" and democratic also abroad, amongst the countries that traditionally considered them as unconditional friends. And they are even losing the support of many pro-americans. That is not only due to to the government though but also to the american citizens travelling abroad and their attitude towards all what is not american.

Only by the definition of the term. Fascism = a right-wing authoritarian hierarchical government, opposed to democracy or liberalism.
And there's one very simple litmus test. Read the signing statements by Bush and the legal briefs he filed in the wiretapping cases. These are all public documents. Read them.
They assert that the actions of the executive are not limited by any Congressional act, and that the courts do not have the authority to review or limit any executive decisions. Flat out, Bush is saying that his power is unlimited and unchecked by either the law or the courts. That's the definition of fascism.

How can you expect intelligent responses when you leave so much up to question? Provide details, and examples with sources cited. If you want an intelligent response, incite it. All you are asking for is, well, crap.

Please. Most of us would buckle under the pressure. "Oh, we're becoming facist." Well, I for one have toilet paper at the end of the day. And food. And a car. And my fat azz to lay around on.
