Anything you find difficult and wish it were easier or what direction would you like to see the internet in the future?

I agree with the first answer. This idea of passwords, identity theft, even car keys and house keys is getting more painful at every turn. Let the Internet provide a personal data base that scans my thumb instead of a PIN number or password or signature.

I'd like more wikipedia type projects that go into more depth and better ideas on what is available on the Internet and it's data bases. I automatically assume that the Sandia High School class of 1974 is not available nor is it's yearbook....and it might be!

I'd also like to keep more of my records, safely, on the Internet -- maybe my governmental page -- my social security, my health care, my benefits, my payment plans, my insurance, all summed up for me automatically for me to access.

I like the memory sticks a lot, that I can run programs through the stick and not leave any personal trail on a public computer is very appealing. If there could be improvements (again, linkage to data bases) in that area, I'd love it. For example if I get a call on my cell phone, that number could be stored on my memory stick.

I like how communication on a large scale is morphing -- like chatrooms and myspace and blogs and especially here in Y! Answers. Managing Large Scale communications would be the next thing I like. Blending the profiling of myspace and eharmony with the category's of Answers to so I can find people who are like me with the same interests and we can make a difference.

I was encouraged by the Internet's impact on Snakes on a Plane, that a group voice could be heard and actually have an impact on a product. I'd like to see more "user participation" in politics and entertainment -- so we can ask for what we need rather than being told what we want.

'k .. that's enough for now, I could go on and on... obviously!

Ever since the Internet became known to the world, it became harder and harder for people to find jobs. The job market became so competitive. If a job seeker doesn't research the company, then the job seeker would be eliminated from among the others who are qualified. The hiring person wants this job seeker to research their company, but what if we don't know the company name like all those Craigslist postings. That doesn't give us a fair shot at the position. Other then that, there is no change. I can't make this researching job easier.

The trick to internet performance is your access type:
A Modem connection theoretically connects at speeds up to 56k, but thats rare.
Cable Modems are great as long as you live in a house, in a apartment you will be sharing bandwidth with all your neighbors.
DSL/ADSL is pretty good as lond as your relatively close to a central Office speeds of 256kps to 768kps is possible
The best connections are Frame Relay or a T1 connection where speeds can get up to 1.5mps

Best to ask rioting masses denied access to internet in Egypt. They would be able to give real description of effect. Don't know what u've got till it's gone sometimes. Personally I would miss the searches for info.

I would like to see a directory like the phone book.
1. I would like to view all registered domain names in alphabetical order. (for when I can almost remember the name, but not quite)
2. All domain names would have a card associated with them, like library books do.
3. Would like to be able to search by criteria of the card as mentioned in item 2.
4. Domains would be categorized into commercial, free commercial (like yahoo), government, non-profit, and personal. Like the white, yellow, and government pages of the phone book.

One of the things I hate most about searching is when your search just leads to other search engine results.

I wish we could use it for travel in the future. Have a portal, and type where we want to go, let it shrink our molecular structure and zap us to wherever we want to go. Now that, would be cool.
