Ok I'm looking for an apartment somewhere in downtown New York. I want it to be a loft apartment with atleast 2 bedrooms. I know this is probably gonna sound stupid but I really want one of those apartments like in the movies where you can just look out the window at see the skyline clearly. Anyone know what I'm talking about, or know where would be a good place to look first?

Since you are a Yahoo user, why not try:

http://realestate.yahoo.com/

Another popular site is:

http://www.apartments.com/

You can also try Craigslist at:

http://www.craigslist.org/about/cities.html

Another option is to try this site run by e-bay:

http://www.rent.com/

In the end, your best bet will probably be watching the classifieds in the newspaper or using the services of a local rental agent.

Good luck with your search.

I understand your dream of living in a loft in New York, and downtown is definitely for loft lovers! There are many new constructions as well as adaptive restorations (historic buildings where the unique features of the building are kept and adapted into living space) in the downtown area. The loft rent for 2 bedrooms with a skyline view, however, will be around $5,000 a month. Check out the websites below.

Yes, I know what you are talking about. Are you ready to pay the price? They are thousands a month, and I'm not kidding. I was in Manhattan this past March and called one just for fun-a one bedroom, one bath was $3500 and had monthly fees for maintenance.
