Q#1) It's probably OK to wax/epi, but there's research showing that different stressors can effect mom, therefore baby. Although, to my knowledge, none of those experiments included epi/waxing (grin), but still I'd think if others stressors can effect a pregnancy, then why take a chance and not shave during those few months. I remember Kelly Rippa didn't color her hair when she was pregnant eventhough she said there was no real danger, but she just went with her gut and decided against it. She's normally a brunette, so it was root city for a while!! LOL

Q#2) If this is your first pregnancy, then it's going to be a while before you show, but it's not unusual to get a tender tummy before showing, forcing you into prego clothes before it's time.

Congratulations and enjoy this magical time. The experience of pregnancy almost feels like it's from another planet, but it's joyous and gets better into the second and third trimesters.
Have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Yes both methods rely on physical plucking of the hair, there is no chemical or physical risk to an embryo, through this process.
You, and all mothers to be should, be aware that changes in hair growth are common in pregnancy, with many women experiencing thicker hair on their scalp. The downside is that post-delivery there is often (approx 50% of pregnacies) a compensatory shedding that can be very distrubing with the sufferer thinking they are going to lose all their hair. They will not (unless there's an underlying problem). Hair grows in a cyclic pattern, growing for several years then stops, and after a short period is shed. So hair sheds every day, it is thought in prganacy that the growth period is elongated, perhaps as a result of hormonal changes, so you see less shedding, but when hormone levels change the hairs that would have been shed normally do so in a more synchronised fashion, and thus appears to be a major loss. Hair growth will return to normal in 3-6 months. There is no evidence that ANY treatment will affect this process, do not be tempted to treat this loss, which is normal, with any product- it is a complete waste of money. Shampoos, lotions or dietary supplements have not been proved to have any effect on pregancy induced hair loss. It is amusing that some products claim hair growth will return to normal i 6 months......it would anyway regardless of treatment. Women worried by this hair loss can be very concerned and vulnerable, but don't become a victim. If in any doubt at all see your own GP to confirm the loss is preganancy related, and hence self limiting and that you will recover. In 99.9% of cases this will be the case.

For the epiliation, I would not. It makes you sore and stresses you and your heart. But as far as all the other answers are concerned, they all say yes, but personally, I would give it a miss. When you are in pain, it must release some chemicals and stuff, I would not think that would be good for the baby. I am a very protective parent, maybe overly so. But I would do nothing to harmfully affect my child, when I was carrying her or even now. My evidence is not proven, but I see how wonderfully adjusted my daughter is and think that everything I have done and not done to date has had a positive effect!

As for showing, well, that is completey individual. EVERY pregnancy is totally different as is every woman. I was huge, when I was 3 months, I looked 6 months

yes, you can epilate and wax. It might be a little bit more painful, if you retain water, but you should be ok. Also, make sure you use disinfecting cream after that, to prevent infections (it's easy to find right in the wax aisle, it's no more than $10 for a large tube, and it is soothing).
Good luck

You can wax, but if you are prone to coldsores, I would avoid waxing any area of your face. It could cause a massive breakout.

As far as showing, it depends on the person. If you are very slender, fit and this is your first, you may not show until your 6th month. Some women show as early as 12 weeks.

No I have never hear this before and think it is perfectly fine to epilate your legs during pregnancy.

Yes, unless you get varicose veins, which is unlikely (I had them on my vulva). Drs. used to shave their patients during labor until it was discovered that tiny little nicks from shaving can cause more chance of infection. I'm sure that your doctor wouldn't care and probably would be grateful that you got that hair out of the way.

i started to show at 5 months. and yes you can wax when pregnant but be careful as your skin might be more sensitive.
To nourish your skin and prevent stretchmarks i would HIGHLY recommend the TONIC OIL from Clarins(it is a bit dear but well worth it). I used it during my pregnancy and after the birth............NOT one stretchmarks on my belly.

Yes it is safe to wax or shave. I seem to start showing about 10 minutes after the pregnancy test turns pink. So, it really depends on the person. Your best guideline is to go by your mom or sisters who have had babies, if they showed early, you probably will too.
