They want their cake and to eat it too. They can't have one without the other. I don't feel sorry for them. It comes with the territory. They have enough money to hide away at exclusive, luxury hotels and hire someone to do their grocery shopping. They need to just suck it up already.

It's one thing to have cameras all up in your face when you're out and about.
It's quite another to have those same cameras in your face when you're at home, in the store, taking a nap, having a smoke at the bottom of a cave, etc. I mean, in a lot of cases, these celebrities can't take a crap without some camera poking them in the butt!
And why, you ask?
Simple, really. It's all YOU.
We feel the need to live vicariously through famous people because their lives are *obviously* more interesting than ours. Seriously, you make a few songs that people like, or you make a movie that grosses 27 zillion. Does that mean you deserve to have paparazzi trailing you on the nude beach? No! But *someone* is out there, buying those pictures of your nude, untanned rear, and until that stops, the concept of celebrities getting privacy is never going to come to pass.
Sean Penn had the right idea.

Some people don't dream of being rich and famous. Some just dream of being rich (did Bill Gates ever go asking for publicity) and some just like to act or direct or whatever and end up being famous as a side-effect

Despite the fact that many famous people do lose their privacy, in the end they are human, too. And I guess there is a cut-off line as too how much people should really know about one's personal life.

No, I believe their dream was mostly to be an actor, singer, or politician. their dream definitely was not to have cameras following them into the toilet and checking the color of their poop. Americans are far too obsessed with celebrity of any sort. Its as if you are all trying to live vicariously through their lives. Its time you all learned to mind your own damned business.

Because they don't. The press is all over them, people like you "google" them to find out about their personal lives and so on.
