I have an uncle who was the ultimate Hippie.....went to Woodstock...Lived in California....Protested...etc .etc....He's disillusioned...broke and unhappy....the sixties looks like a lot of fun but it was really not the best time for young people....we now know as a generation that drugs suck....Pot is Ok but most other drugs kill you sooner or later...Some good did come out of the sixties but it wasn't all a romantic and cool as it looks like.

They are in their 50's and 60's now, and most of them changed with the times. As Leogirl said, some became Republicans, and sold out to the establishment, but some remained true and never supported the lies of the current administration.

Oh I was almost had an answer your question before I read your details, but not all free thinking lovers of art and music were born in the baby boom generation. What a dumb stereotype.

The time wasn't as romantic as you seem to think. The times were much more turbulent. Many of us went off to fight a war and returned forever altered. Most of the free lifestyle was a result of trying to shake off the effects of Vietnam. 50,000 American GIs died under fire. Another 150,000 Vietnam vets committed suicide after the war. That's my memory of the times. It wasn't all that much fun. Trust me on that one.

We're still around....lamenting the fact that this generation is, so far, more concerned with their Ipods than the fact that their brothers and sisters are, once again, being killed in an unnecessary and endless war.

They grew up. They're all around you. Talk to somebody who's in their fifties or sixties, and you can find them. They weren't going to not wear deoderant and shun hygeine forever. They had to make money to survive.
