Your analogy is not valid. By definition, a pedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to child and thinks about having sex with children. But that is all that is required to be a pedophile -- the thoughts and the feelings.
The term "pedophile" is often mis-used to mean "child molester". But one has nothing to do with the other, since someone can sexually molest children for power or control, without actually being sexually attracted to them. So, the analogy is flawed both ways.
Then again, I've noticed that people don't usually care about what words actually mean when they get emotional about an issue.
If you want to make up new definitions for the words, and ignore what the dictionaries and the psych books and the laws actually define the term to mean, go ahead. Just expect to keep having problems with people pointing out that your definitions are incorrect.

Just because you think about something isn't the same as actually acting on the thought. But in your defense yes if someone has thoughts of having sex with a child that person does need some serious help before they do turn into a pedophile. It does not make them a pedophile. A pedophile would act on the thoughts.

I agree with fun_guy_o. Its more like saying Just because he "thinks" of robbing banks, doesnt mean he's a bank robber. So it wouldnt work.

But not in the eyes of the law. The government only cares if they act (or attempt to act) on their pedophillia (Just like nobody ever got arrested for thinking about robbing a bank) You can't blame/arrest a person for a condition that is largely based on DNA and other chemicals.

"Buddy, you can't go to jail for what you're thinking" (From Standing on the corner, watching all the girls go by). Your analogy leaves mush to be desired.
I think about lots of things I don't do. That's because I've got impulse control.

That made no sense whatsoever. The analogy between the two is not correct in that one person took 'no physical action' while the other person 'took physical action' and its the physical act that classifies you according to the crime committed.
