How did our seasons get decided?

Did someone decide these seasons? By seasons I mean Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

The only thing people can decide is what to call them; the seasons will be *there* whether you label them or not.
Unless of course you live right on the Equator, in which case there are none, and no daylight saving time either.
