I am one of those people, so let me explain. I don't even like to hug my younger brother, because he's always so dirty! So I'm a bit germaphobic...with some people. It's kind of the same as drinking out of the same cup as someone else...some people do it, some hate to.
Also, I like my personal space. I don't like hugs from guys, because I'm a guy, so that's just freaky to me. And as for girls...well I wouldn't mind as much, because they are generally cleaner than most guys and don't usually give one of those annoying rib-crushing hugs or the hard pat on the back.
I also feel very vulnerable when I hug. I'm a very cautious and safe person and hugging completely cuts into that stuff for me. So yeah pretty much there is only one person I would even want to hug...
Oh I didn't grow up in a very touchy-feely family and I vew hugs as generally saying more than "you're my friend" it kind of means "I love you a whole lot" to me...so there's a looong explanation. Enjoy! *hug*

I'm one of those people, and yes,it's mostly because we're not "touchy-feely".Also,it has to be the right person or they don't want a hug,and they have to be comfortable around you.I'm very touch sensitive, and I DO NOT liked to be hung all over by others-it invades my space. With some people,it could be they're a virgin. Some virgins aren't very close to people.

I can say for myself that, sometimes being that intimately close to someone makes me feel uncomfortable. I mean, your bodies are touching each other and that just is more physical than I care to be with anyone save my dearest friends, and even in that case not all the time. I kind of feel that hugging is done too carelessly; that people don't stop to really put meaning into it and just perfunctorily rush through it without thinking or feeling.

Germaphobes who don't want to admit it on account of sounding neurotic. It can also depend on who is doing the hugging and what type of hg it is. Maybe some people got 1 or too many bear hugs from casual aquaintances to make them feel uncomfortable . . .

I am a person who does not like to be hugged or touched simply because that is the way i am. I am not a physically affectionate person unless I am in a relationship with someone.

1) They like to be hugged but don't want to be hugged by you in particular.
2) They have issues with closeness due to any number of issues, ranging from body self consciousness to past abuse - its impossible to know exactly.

I'm a type of person who likes my own space. I get easily irritated when someone comes close to me.... I only hug close people, not anyone in particular.
