I have to agree with you that it depends on the mood...there are just too many to pick a single favorite.
When I'm feeling sexy, I love the songs "Freelove", "Sea of Sin", "Behind the Wheel", "World In My Eyes", "I Want You Now" and "Lie to Me".
When feeling sentimental, emotional or deep: "Here is the House", "Black Celebration", "Stripped", "Strangelove", "Enjoy the Silence", "Shake the Disease", "Insight", "Rush", "In Your Room" and "See You".
When frustrated by the actions & attitudes of other people: "Walking in My Shoes", "Condemnation", "People are People" and "The Things You Said".
Depeche Mode has some of the best lyrics, beats & melodies!

I have been a fan of DM since about 1990 on up. Martin and Dave are great. Enjoy and Silence and Behind the Wheel are great. Policy of Truth are great as well. I know this doesn't help much but I enjoy a lot of their songs. DM are a very innovative band.

I'm gonna have to say STRANGELOVE! I've been a devotee (depeche mode fan) for over 15 years and this song was the one that converted me. I had one listen to it and got hooked. I now own over 60 music CD's from the group including some bootlegged stuff. These guys are the greatest and this song is the best ever.
