See your doctor and make sure there is nothing serious then talk to him/her about changing the baby's formula. In my case it was the formula that came at the store. We ended up making formula from scratch using molasses and adding baby vitamins to it and that stopped the diarrhea. Yes babies do get diarrhea sometimes for days on end if the formula is wrong in answer to the one answer I saw on here. The main thing is to stay calm so the baby doesn't get upset, they sense everything and it will just make things worse. 5 Month old babies are usually old enough to have a bit of solid food, but only you and your doctor can decide that. Every baby is different. Don't wait to go though because if its serious you need to take care it now.

I tend to agree with the first answer. That she is thriving is a good sign. Begin to eliminate formula from her diet. No fruit juice, no milk. Give PediaLyte every day that she has runny stools and plain water throughout. You can even try soy milk in addition to water. If you see no improvement and no soft stools in one week or a worsening in her condition, call her Pediatrician.

its time to cut back on the formula, start giving solid food a little more, like mashed potatoes, vegetables, small pieces of meat, You may need to mixerd the formula with regular milk. do like a half and half and also cut back. No apple juice, Apple juice also casues diarrhoea. Try pedialite for couple days.

Talk to your doctor... young babies don't have solid terds like adults do... ask your doctor what you should be expecting for the baby's age and what to watch out for.. generally the waste will be soft and at times a bit liquidy..
