Why do some people (normally early 20's and younger) get drunk for fun?

I'm 25 and have never wanted to get drunk for fun, or even not on purpose. What is the point?

A lot of people think they can't have real fun unless they're drunk.Been there done that.You're right,many of them are in their 20s or younger. But once they turn 35 or so,and still haven't grown passed that kind of thinking,there's something more going on than drinking for fun. They're trying to forget their problems,and booze is not the anser for that. The problems will still be there the next day.

To experiment in life. They want to be wild when they are young, and they know that they can get away with it because they don't have adult responsibilities like a mortgage, serious job, spouse, children, etc...

It's not just drinking, it's everything. Many people feel that if they miss out on the crazy days in life, they will regret it when they are older. So they want to live life to the fullest, you only live once, you're only young once, so why not enjoy it while you can, and all those other cliches.

When you are drunk you loose control of your thought process. This also helps you not have to think about your life. I know when I use to drink it started out because everyone else was doing it but then turned into needing to exscape from reality. This is why achol is a gateway drug.

I do not drink personally, and have at times asked many of drunks...As they are throwing up..Are ya having fun yet?
But I do realize that at times you need to escape the realities that be, and alcohol is legal and available and socially accepted.

So you have NEVER been drunk? Wow that is something. I know it is imature, but people have more fun when they are drunk. You don't care if you look like a fool you are just there to have a good time.

I dont know, the morning afterwards sucks. I have been drunk twice and I'm 20. Good question, I think I'm going to rethink my fun activities. No joke!

Ask my ex he did it all the damn time he was stupid he thought it was funny falling down the steps and throwing up on himself some people are just dumb

I am glad I drank in my teens/early adulthood. Now I am settled and have it already out of my system.

To relax, to let loose. Alcohol lowers people's inhibitions, allows them to say, dance when normally they wouldn't, they become more talkative, less uptight etc.
