If you aren't a US citizen, you will need a suitable visa to get into the country. There are various types, depending on whether you want to study, get a job, or are just visiting. You will need some money to get started -- perhaps US$1000 or so, although if you can live with friends or relatives, you can get by with much less. Depending on where you live, apartment rentals run from a few hundred dollars a month, up -- in some areas, way up.

A work Visa.....you can live here cheap...America is huge...depends where you want to live...New York and California are expensive...Texas is realitly cheap...I have a 3 bed 2 bath 2,200 sqf house with a pool for $1000 a month in HOuston

If you are going to live in Houston a gun will be needed - I am not joking! My parents lived their in the early 80's who knew expats who kept guns in the glove compartment of their cars!
But seriously, you do need an awareness of the do's and don't's of gun culture in America. In early 90's an expat got shot because got lost in the neighbourhood and knocked on someone's back door, who thought he was an intruder and shot him dead.

I pay $350 a month, make $6.75 an hour (minus taxes) and also pay utilities. I can't afford a car or a wife.
And you will need the appropriate visa.

You need a visa. Depeding on what you want, you need about $1000 dollars or so for a month.

A decent job and check up on the area you want to live in, you wouldn't want to find yourself in a horrible crime ridden area .
