The latest software of iTunes has caused my powerbook to crash. When I try and log in with my password, the screen starts and then bounces back to the log in screen. Please tell me that there is a way to reinstall osx without destroying my music. I've got 3,000 files here.

Save me.

Put your start-up disk in the drive and boot from that. Once your computer is booted, you should be able to save your music files under a different name so that it will not be written over by a new OS install. Before doing a clean install, I would try to trash iTunes and download it again. Be sure to save those files before you do that.

sure it is possible, when you run your osx dvd, there is an option that save everything you have before and instal the osx... you can even have your old configuration without any change
