As an adult I would acknowledge that my mom has wisdom that I do not know about and would listen closely to what she says. When I was a teenager however, I would argue the case and say my mom did not know what she was talking about and insist on being friends even if I knew she was doing the wrong things. So why not find a middle ground and listen to your mom and ask her to take the time to get to see that your friend has changed. Sometimes my mom was won over by peoples actions more than empty words.

if he/she is your real friend, then he/she would listen to you about not doing those bad things again. If they are trying to reform themselves, let your mom know that and to not judge her/him although they may have done some bad things in life.
