They can actually clinch it Saturday if they win tonight and sweep the doubleheader on Saturday, provided Toronto loses either today or tomorrow as well. Doing that would give New York 92 wins and Boston 71 losses, meaning the best record Boston could have would be 91-71.
NY's magic number over Boston is 6, their magic number over Toronto is 4.

bronx bomb said exactly what i was going to say.. hes right..and the redsox season ended after that destruction at fenway.. and their fans put those hats away back in the closet that they bought new 2 years ago and then washed them 20 times to make them look like long suffering fans.. and they get on yahoo and say how much the yankees suck and how much they hate them. and make remarks about their payroll etc...

You're all wrong, they clinched it a while ago when they took 5 out of 5 from the BloSox.
That was when they clinched the division.
