Great question - it's sad that I can't pull more out of my head. I didn't want to grab a book. But it's even sadder that so few Americans probably know even 10 famous American heroes of the Second World War.

Got History?

Though General George S. Patton was a "Military Genious", The greatest hero of the war was most deffinitely "Audie Murphy", also the most decorated veteran of that war, or any other for that matter. he was a great warrior. That being said, and I am by no-means a "Nazi-Sympathizer",but "General Rammel" was also a Military Genious in many peoples opinions. his panzers conquered most of Europe under 1 year, No-easy-feat. hope this helps you. Audie Murphy

Audie Murphy was the most decorated. Medal of Honor and he was a movie star as well!

I have to agree that Genera Patton and General Eisenhower were pretty famous as well! Patton hated the Russians, kicked Rommel's butt in Africa.

JFK and his PT109 became famous as well!

Monty was a retard. He took credit for Patton's work. General Rommel was a genius...just on the wrong side.

But the winner should be the answer from ilovemydo,"my Grandpa". Without these guys, none of the "famous guys" would have mattered.
