What do contractions feel like?

It feels just like cramps at first. Light cramps, then normal, then bad, then they don't feel anything like you've felt before. I'm not one to exaggerate, but it was the most pain I've felt ever. Some people have back labor like my mom and me. That is suppossed to be the worst, but I don't know, because that's the only one I've had and can't compare. The way you can tell if they are contractions or not is to time them. If they are a certain time apart (mine were 8 mins) then they are contractions. All these answers will probably tell you how painful they are but remember that you will live through them. They will not last for the rest of your life. And the most important one. At the end of all the pain you will see your little one and you will forget all about it.

Contractions are different with each woman. mine felt like cramps and others have thought it was just gas. When something feels different you will know. Focus on the time how often and far you are feeling whatever you thnk is a contraction and you will know.

I agree with gegesmommy. My contractions started with just a small discomfort in my back. Felt like someone was sitting on my spine. Alot of pressure. Later on that day when they seriously started, it felt like someone put a 1 inch around rubber band around my pregnant stomach. Hurt so bad ><.

It depends. I think all women percieve pain differently. My contractions were mainly in my back and it felt like someone grabbed a sledge hammer and was beating me with it. The worst pain you'll ever feel!!

Very bad cramps. You can also get labor pains in your back- called back labor.
