We want to be able to watch US TV shows and it is my lifeblood back to my friends in the states. How can I get the most recent episodes? what cable provider? what pkg? how, how, how? this is my biggest concern about being here ; )

what a shallow vapid life you lead if TV is the B all and End All of your life. Its a different country, its a different environment - go out and enjoy. If you decide its not for you then fine, but at least go out here and see how other people / other cultures lead their lifes
BTW "Greys Anatomony" is on public TV (channel 5 I think), American Idol dunno

You can watch American idol on ITV 2. they also had America, you've got talent on, another show from the same people. Grey's anatomy is on Living TV, as well as other America show, some of which are on Sky. this would be the best package to get, although it's probably the most expenisve, but it will have all these channels. ITV2 i think is available on freeview. I saw the last american idol show, Paris Bennett was great.

"Great" US tv? Why don't you realise you are in another country and you should try watching some home-grown British tv shows. In case you didn't notice, British television had Pop Idol before the American version came along, so maybe you could watch some of the original British shows before they get Americanised, that way you'll be miles ahead of everyone in the States!

get the series on DVD or go online and check up on episodes. I lived in england for 2 years too good luck watching anything on tv. even if you do get it there it will be on at like 3 in the morning

Any cable or satellite, then just turn on your tv and watch.

If you have satelite TV over there you might be able to get your favorite shows...Other than that you might just have to get them on DVD...
