If I knew your name and where you lived I would turn you in to child welfare myself, for admitting to not caring about your children and smoking pot while pregnant. If you don't want or care about them give them to someone who does want them!.

If the hospital knows you haven't had prenatal care they can call social work and have you brought up on neglect charges. I understand having 2 jobs and a 10 month old but if you had enough time to lay down and get pregnant you should find the time to make sure that baby is alright. You would forever feel guilty if the baby you are carrying was unhealthy due to something they could have picked up during a visit or a scan.

No, there will be none, but why is it that you didn't go? Don't tell me money or time because that is just one worry excuse? Not only can there be a complication with the baby, but what i something is no ok with you either?

And aren't you just a little curious? I mean, to know the babys' sex, if it's maybe twins, or whatever??? If you already have a 10 month old baby to take care of, shouldn't you show a little more responsibility? I am not sure what kind of a mom you are, I hope a good one, just go and get everything checked out.

Obviously, this is on your mind if you are posting a question on yahoo answeres and you obiously know that this is nor right if you are asking if there are legal consequences.

Not going to prenatal visits when you are pregnant is child neglect.

Having two children about a year apart and working two jobs to survive is not neglectful, abusive or anything else negative. People might be judgmental about you taking on more than most folks can deal with, but they can't take your children away from you because you're not endangering them.

Bottom line? We have drop in deliveries at our local hospital all the time. We have women who haven't been seen the entire time they were pregnant, mostly Spanish speaking and they didn't have health insurance. At my local hospital last year, 67% of women who delivered did not have private health insurance and over 30% had two or less prenatal visits.

It's sad... but not a crime.

Make sure you go to the hospital when you're in labor. Have your baby delivered in a safe environment. They may question why you didn't get prenatal care but likely it will be just to make sure that you have health care in place for your baby when you take him/her home. If you don't, then they'll help you fill out paperwork with a social worker so you can get Medicaid or the equivalent for your state.

No one wants to take your children. They only want to help you so they are healthy and safe. I hope you have a safe and healthy delivery and good luck to you with your growing family.

I can only speculate since I don't have a law degree in the state of Nevada, but you can't get into trouble since the child is not considered "alive" or an actual "child" yet, however if there is something wrong with the baby after it's born, then you MIGHT be held liable for it. Also if something arrises, then they might look into your lifestyle and see what's going on there and they might deem you an unfit parent and take the children. I would contact a lawyer or planned parenthood or somebody and see what the consequences might be.

A family member of mine (in Georgia) didn't recieve any prenatal care during her preg... she's an all natural no drugs, no docs, etc.... well she didn't get into any trouble, there is nothing legal about it... and everything was fine. However, I would think it's best to see a doc before delivery so they can tell you how large the baby will be and what sex and kinda get you prepared and prepare you for delivery. Besides that, if your worried- The baby's worried. So go get checked out, and registered at a hospital if nothing eles... can't get into trouble doing that for sure... :)

Why have you not bothered to have prenatal visits?? I understand about not having money but thats why you can get on any state insurance when your pregnant. It is important to your baby's health not just yours. I have no idea if there are LEGAL consequences(though my 2 cents is there should be) but as far as other consequences only god knows what could or already has gone wrong with your baby.

I don't mean to preach but if you know the consequences then why haven't you seen a doctor?! You are being very selfish. That unborn baby has no one to rely on but YOU. How can you sleep at night knowing this baby growing inside of you could be at risk? His/her life is in your hands. Get up and go to the doctor.
As far as legal consequences, I don't think so. But there should be. Sorry to be so blunt and rude.
Good luck to you but mostly to your children.

Im going to add some details:

I don't see how you would get into legal trouble. The thing I can't figure out is the fact that you can spell "consequences" but aren't smart enough to stop getting pregnant. Take control of your life in that aspect too.

Working two jobs is commendable but not taking care of an unborn child that you have a responsibility to is just sad. That child can help itself as much as the ten month old. Take care of your children and yourself. They didn't ask to be here.

Good Luck

Why haven't you been gping? Is it the 2 jobs and the baby that do not allow time? I completely understand how that can take up alot of time. I work 2 jobs too so I know it's hard. But you do have to try to make SOME time. Is the father around? Can he help you? Do you have family around to help? Have you gotten ANY prenatal care?

I am not from nevada and don't know the laws but if time is the issue in you not pursuing prenatal care then maybe look into getting a Doula. At least then you will know where you stand, be better prepared and at ease for labor, and have a woman who both understands and supports your way of life. if you are stuck on where to find one check out www.dona.com and follow the links to find a Doula. You owe it to your babe, your family, and most of all yourself to get the best care and support possible.
