I have this mental block where I can't throw the ball to third base, I throw it wildly. What can I do? It's like the ball has a mind of its own

Try aiming 5 feet over the 1st Basemens head.

Also, tell honeyinthelexus to put the cheeseburger down.

In practice, try to throw the ball wildly. Throw it in the dirt, try to throw it over the first baseman's head. THis will give your muscles memory of a bad throwing motion. Once you have done that for a few practices (please clear it with your firstbaseman first --former first baseman talking) then begin to throw to the base. Your muscles would have been trained in the incorrect fashion, so when you throw to the base it will feel more natural.

If you were a third baseman and you were throwing wildly to third, it's probably because you're supposed to run the ball to the bag instead.

If you meant FIRST... practice long throws, don't try to aim the ball, and most importantly, stop telling yourself it's going to go wild when you throw, 'cause it will.

Does your team work with a sports psychologist at all? If it really is a mental block, that is exactly the type of thing they should be able to help you with.

throw over the top, its more accurate than side or underhand. Set your feet too youll be able to make a good strong throw to 1st.
