I am on Depo Provera and just got a prescription for the patch. I know that in most cases you are supposed to start using the patch the first day of your period, but now that I am on Depo I do not get periods anymore. I really need help trying to figure out when to start using the patch. Has anyone switched from Depo to the pill or patch? How did you do it?

**I forgot to add. When I went to my doctor and asked her, she told me to start on the day that I would start my period. Another person told me to start on the day I would go in to get my next shot. When I asked my doctor how should I start since I dont get periods anymore she said to make an estimate. I have not had a period since January and even when I did have periods they were never very normal and ranged from 35-45 days.

First of all, ask your doctor when the best time is to start. He/she will probably base it on the last time you had your depo shot.
Just be careful with the patch. I've had friends that had pretty severe reactions to it; such as a breakout of lesions all over her body that left scars. Not to scare you because not everybody has bad reactions. Sometimes depo can cause effects even after you've stopped taking it too.
Talk to your Dr. first and foremost. Make sure you have all information before you start anything else.
