I respect everyones opinions, because it's so subjective, but what is this fascination with Shyamalan??
He's directed 1 memorable film (The Sixth Sense). His other films have terrible (The Village, Lady in the Water, and Unbreakable), or very aaverage (Signs, and Wide Awake). SI see him as a one hit wonder, who always relies on gimmicks (like twist endings) to anchor his films.

It is a shame that you neglected to mention Spike Lee, the Hughes Bros. or John Singleton.
