i like this instructor who works at the local gym, whenever i go there, he always chats to me for about 45 mins to an hour on a one to one about all kinds of stuff, he always asks me to go in when he's working, he tells me the times of when hes working and asks me to go in and see him, he gives me compliments and also walked me to my car the once, i think he wanted to see what car i had, but does he like me? he had a girlfirend and he used to chat to me openly about his relationship. He said that he was not 'a cheater'. But then when he split with her, i was really hoping i'd have a chance with him, then my friend was chatting to him about me and he said that he knew that i liked him and he didnt want to lead me on? do you think he did like me before he split with his girlfriend?

That's a good possibility. Guys are confusing like that, I've dealt with it a couple of times. Just ignore him and see what he does. He could have also just been telling your friend that because he's a private person when it comes to relationships unless he really likes the person.

He did, but he was in a relationship and was looking for something better. If you go out with him now, he'll be looking for something better while dating you. Forget him and find another guy who is a little more trustworthy.
Unless you're not looking for anything serious and don't mind the guy you're dating going out/sleeping with other women. If that's the case, then go for it. He sounds like a real nice guy.
