I'm a geologist, but I don't understand your question. If you just got out of college, you would be supervised very closely because you would just be learning. If you have experience, you would be supervised less because you know what you're doing.

I think it also depends on whom you are working for. .

are you doing your own study and work and funded by a gov't grant?. .

or are you working for Exxon, or whatever. . looking for oil?
