I've never owned an 8-track, but the first vinyl record I ever bought was the 12" single of 'Close To Me' by The Cure. Albumwise, I think it was 'High Land, Hard Rain' by Aztec Camera.

The first album I bought with my saved-up allowance was The Beatles - RUBBER SOUL - in glorious Mono ! ! !
(the stereo version was a dollar more, and that's a lot of cash to an 8-year-old)
My first 8-track was Pink Floyd - MEDDLE - 99-cent bootleg from the big rack at a clothing store called "Pants Scene"

Mines a little different I cought the tail end of records but I remember using my allowance to buy a starwars readalong books that came with a record I actually had several of them

Whoops!!! I lied, it was a Kingston Trio album, can't remember which one, in 1959. Hard to remember, all my records were stolen in 1962 and I hope the creep who did it rots in hell!!
