Hi, Go to http://housecall.antivirus.com and use their free house doctor scanner, this should find and clean the virus, or give you detailed information about the virus, and steps to take to clean it.
When you have done that, I would suggest getting rid of Norton, delete it completely from your system, then go to http://www.avast.com/ and download their FREE home edition antivirus, or the paid professional version, depending on your needs. I run avast, and have done for the last couple of years with no problems at all, and I may add, it excelled where Norton let me down. Hope this cures your problem.

Do you know the name of the virus? Try one thing, reboot in safe mode... Since you have not mentioned ur OS, chk this link out
http://www.xmission.com/~comphope/issues/chsafe.htm
Now, once there, run the virus scanner. This will ensure that there are no memory resident instances which will rewrite the virus.
PS: Before you do this.. disable system restore. You can do this by right clicking My Computer-->properties. This will open a window which will have a system restore tab. Disable system restore on all drives. This will prevent the virus from coming back on thru system restore data.

If you go to the website for Nortons (symantic is the company I belive) you can do a search for different viruses and they will tell you how to delete them. You have to know what you are infected with, though. If you cant get rid of it you may have to re-format your hard drive with the discs that should have come with the computer. Make sure you do a backup first, this will wipe out everything!

It sounds like you have no virus checker on your pc at present or one that does not remover the virus.
Go to www.grisoft.com and download avg version 7.0 it is free. install it and then check for updates. run it and clear the virus. Then ensure you keep the virus checker updated and install a good spy software run them both on a regular basis
And remember never open an email unless you are certain you know who its from or check it for virus first using avg

Get an apple mac, they dont tend to get them!! Every time you delete a virus another little begger will get in the system. Get a good spyware package to run with your virus scan and it will minimise virus and spyware!
