Feel free to list as many as you please. It / they can come from any genre ~ rock & roll, country-western, R & B, whatever. And tell me why, if you wish. I could list several, but I will start with "The Tighten Up" by Archie Bell & the Drells--it's just a stupid song. Then how about Happy Together by the Turtles--stupid lyrics, irritating music/instrumentation. In the song, he sings these words: "The only one for me is you and you for me. That's redundant. What he means is "The only one for me is you, and me for you." Another is Mary's Boy Chile by a lot of people. A Christmas song about Jesus Christ being born on Christmas Day. Duh! Christmas Day was "born" to commemorate Jesus' birth, which WASN'T Christmas Day. He was born in the spring. So, whadya think? Got any for me?

Note to Unicorn ~ Dr. Demento cds consist of "novelty" songs, which are SUPPOSED to be funny, stupid, silly, etc. And, yes some of those are stupid even for "stupid" songs. Thanx.

Ha! I never realized that about the Turtles song! I think most music today sucks for various reasons in all genres of music, but to keep from turning into my parents, I find the good thing about new music. Like, maybe I hate the lyrics, but I like the beat, or I don't favor the beat so much, but the lyrics actually are good. Some examples of music with lyrics I hate with beats I like are Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous Girl and Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back. Call me a sell out for liking pop music if you will, but really, I've just lost faith in music. Most every artist that I at one point think is great completely suck the next year or maybe it takes 5 years for some... So I no longer think any artist is great. I see music only as a source of entertainment that sometimes play something that I can connect with. Luckily music has been around for so long that I can find music to connect with on most emotional levels, but I don't expect much from newer generations of music on that level. It is very entertaining though.

approximately 5 yrs in the past on ultimate Of the Pops (that's a tutor that performs the week's uk chart countdowns, and has stay bands etc..) Had this group that i think of became selection one, that became making a song "wheels on the bus circulate around and around" . They have been all on point doing the strikes, youthful adult males/women persons dressed college little ones with the girl's hair in pigtails...all making a song the nursery rhyme to upbeat music. That has have been given to be the worst (chart) song and function ever..... Even the objective marketplace have been lapping all of it up, and starting to be a member of in. Ridiculous.

I never noticed that about the Turtles song either! In fact, I had to think it through even after you'd pointed it out! Can't stand "Judy In Disguise" (with glasses). Now that's moronic. Really hate "Please Release Me" by Ray Price. Cruel, mean song about how the other woman's lips are warm but his girlfriend's are cold. Creep. And he has the nerve to sing about it! Just leave already! Rod Stewart's "Maggie": "All you did was wreck my bed and in the morning kick me in the head." Couldn't come up with better lyrics than that?? Well that's my rant for the day ( -:

This is really bad, but do you remember the show Blossom? Remember Joey (whoa)? Well, he had some song out when I was little called "Nothing my Love Can't Fix" and I sh!t you not, there was a lyric that said "lately you've been acting like I smell like a zoo.." Goddamn insipid, it was.

Plant Man...I think the guy who sang it was Gary Young. Yahoo Launchcast even has this atrocious video available for viewing.
