I know that you are feeling sad. Let me clarify a few things for you:
1. Having a boyfriend doesn't define you. Look at all those famous actors and actress who hooked up with each other. Did that make them happy and feel loved? It hardly lasted because it was just attraction which they confused for love. Don't mistake it for love. There are people who have been in such bad situations with their bf that they miss being single. The grass only looks greener on the other side.
2. You are feeling alone and sad right now so it is affecting your perception of people. Even though your family doesn't tell you that they love you or they shout at you at times, doesn't mean they don't love you. When a baby cries, the mother gets annoyed but that doesn't make her throw her baby away, does it? Because she does love her child.
3. Everyone feels sad at sometime and most people think this is normal but you are suffering from depression and this is not normal. You need to talk to a psychologist because most of the time your problems can be solved by discussing more than medications. and you will also feel better.
4. There are more things out there than friends. Friends can be fickle. A true friend is there when you need them the most and if they are not there then you are better without them. I mean why do you want a person who only sticks around when you don't really need them?
So, please try to understand what I am saying and talk to your family physician as soon as possible.

I felt much like you do now when i was 16... bu the feeling will pass. You need to get your confidence up - go out, have a laugh and chat up some people - have a flirt - you'll be surprised at how good it feels.
get yourself a job outside school - as a waitress or something where you can be surrounded by people all the time and they will chat with you and have a laugh and it makes you feel so much better - honestly - i got a job at the local bakers, and the lads used to come in and have a chat and a flirt with me behind the counter - and even though it wasn't serious, it made me feel better - that they noticed me. it gave me the confidence to go out with a bloke i'd liked for ages - and guess what? We're now happily married - he knows what i went through, and knows how to cheer me up on the odd bad day i still have - but they are so rare now, that we are just a happily married couple!
i was at my lowest ebb at your age, and now 5 years later, i'm married and looking to the future - it was a hard road to travel, but friends and a good social life got me through - i hope you can find the same!

It is not that unusual to have not had a boyfriend at 16.
To find out how to attract one, read Dr. David Burns'
"Intimate Connections," a book that addresses how you can attract loving people.
The only thing that we can control is ourselves.

You can tell by the amount of time they spend with you. But don't carry a stopwatch around with you, it will put them off.

You know if you look for 'bad' things you usually find them. Try looking for the half full glass rather than the half empty one.
