Don’t you see the irony in Muslims being able to desecrate a Christian Temple in Jerusalem by spreading feces on images of Christ? But a Christian leader (the Pope) can’t remind people of what 14th century Byzantine emperor Manuel Paleolous II said about the profit Mohammad several hundred years ago. It wasn’t even the Popes own words or thought. He was repeating what Paleolous II supposedly said. . What’s with the hypersensitivity anyway?

The Muslims can dance in the streets; shout and yell; raise their fists all they want to but I do not believe the Pope owes Muslims an apology for anything.

Some have contended the terrorists are a form of radical Islam and a small minority of the faith. They say the large majority of Muslims are a peaceful people. I am beginning to wonder about these claims when I see the reported millions in the streets protesting what the Pope repeated.

Two faced or what? Is Islam a peaceful religion or a violence based religion? By what I am seeing and hearing, I would have to conclude the latter.

Oh, how could we get annoyed with such a disrespectful, irreverent description like that? I guess you don't know any other adjectives so you have to say that? But why would anyone be annoyed? Further, if you had your facts straight, you'd know that the Pope didn't swear to Islam. Additionally, the Pope should apologize for using a characterization of Islam from a Byzantine Emperor some several centuries ago when even Istanbul was called Constantinople. He should not apologize merely because Muslims are annoyed.

I will feel bad for the Islamic "Saints" when the Muslims rise up against those who call for the deaths of anyone who doesn't agree with their wacky interpretation of the Koran.

Until the sane Muslim masses take on the few dangerous ones, then I don't care what the Pope or anyone else says about them.

You just can't go around calling for the deaths of anyone who draws a picture or says a word...it is INSANE.

I see words, and they are in English. However, I'm not sure what you are actually trying to communicate.

I know the Pope referenced something that Constantine said about Islam. But if he quoted it accurately, I don't know what the problem is. It sounded accurate to me, and I think that it applies today. Many Muslims are trying to spread the 'faith' thru the sword.

That shouldn't be used in the 21st century, and it is up to the rest of us to say to them, 'NO, you may not take this course of action.'

If that means using violence to protect ourselves, then violence is what those Islamic warmongers will get.

The pope just gave his opinion (which is basically a correct one), and the Muslims get all hyper. .

are you surprised??

These are the people who are more than happy to blow you up just for not converting to Islam.

And they are upset because he basically said this was their modus operendi in the Middle Ages, too.

Why would they get upset at that if that's still their way of doing business??

Go figure!!

Yes of course he should regret and apologize. Islam, or any other religin, should not be evaluated from within the behaviour of bad followers who mis-understood the concept.

IS there such a thing as Islamic saints? Don't they only have suicidal martyrs?
I'd think suicide would certainly exclude sainthood in ANY religion.
