Sure he can sue for defamation of character, but that doesn't mean they'll win the suit.

Defamation of character typically involves two things:
1. making a false statement of fact
2. that statement then injures someone's reputation.

In this case, it doesn't seem to hold because, although there is injury to the reputation, the statements made would appear to be true.

Anyone can sue for anything today, but that does not mean that they will win. As long as what you are saying is correct they do not have a prayer of winning. I would avoid saying things that I felt like jerk. just stick to the proved facts and you will be OK Also the court case would not be closed to the victim, he or she could get copies of the proceedings and use them if the perp sued you.

Who was convicted? It seems like if the molester wasn't convicted of the molestation and you start up a website saying that they are a molester, I would expect they'd have a case against you for defamation of character, slander and maybe more.

Yes absolutely, in return the person would have to prove that the molestation happened, as that would be the only defense. Anyone wantong to go down that road would need to think very carefully. Also I doubt it will bring the healing that person is looking for.
