Typical of HP. Take it to the shop where you bought it and let them replace it. Best is: Buy a new one. They are going for cheap and more sophisticated. Don't use WD 40.

Yes you can. WD-40 helps rejuvenate the rollers and gives it more grip to feed the paper through the printer. As long as your rollers aren't too far gone (have flat, smooth spots), the WD-40 will help. I learned this from working in IT at a hospital. We had service contracts with a printer repair company that specializes in Lanier, Gestnur and HP printers. I got the tip from a technician who I was trying to get a multi-function printer to copy and the roller was not in the best shape. He's been using it for years and I used it at home on my 2 HP Laserjets and they've been working perfectly. Just spray some on, wipe off, let it dry and see your printer not jam up anymore. =)

It sounds you like you need a maintenance kit on your HP printer. Your rollers are definitely damaged that's why your paper is jamming on the right side. If it's still a fairly new printer I would recommend you to contact a local printer/copier repair service. I know the ones around my way do not charge for labor, only parts. Good luck and double check your warranty info, you might be able to get a new printer from HP if the damaged is not caused by normal wear and tear.

I'm assuming this printer is an ink jet.
The inks used in ink jet printers are water soluable.
All you have to do is to use a very damp or slightly wet paper towel and clean that area up. Just wear rubber gloves to protect your hands because you'll most likely get ink on yourself from the paper towel. Be persistant and clean it up really good and then wipe down those surfaces with dry paper towels.

i wouldn't use WD but i've fixed some old printers using an electronic cleaner. you just spray it on and it cleans and evaporates in seconds. pretty handy actually. the WD might mess up your paper feed or something, plus you'd have to be sure to wipe it all off.

instead of using WD40, which is oils and may get to your papers, I will advice you to use a wet towel, and Little hot water over it, use it to clean that gunk.
