nothing floppys are very unpredictable these days. The quality of the disks are always questionable because no one really uses them anymore. You are screwed (get a flash drive)

the file allocation table on your disk is corrupted.
click on the start button > run > type in "chkdsk" and click ok button to get the errors off of your disk.
BEFORE TRYING TO USE IT DO THE FOLLOWING OR IT WILL KEEP HAPPENING AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL YOU DO.
this corruption is caused by dirty recording heads in your floppy drive.
go to office depot or some other office supply and get a floppy drive cleaning kit.
the kit is a fake floppy disk with some cloth where the disk would normally be. put some of the alcohol (two or three drops) from the bottle on the cloth.
now put the disk in the drive. open your browser and click on FILE/OPEN. when the open box appears select 3 1/2 inch floppy from the menu.
this will activate the drive and clean the heads. then a box will appear asking if you want to format the disk. clik on no.
repeat the previous method one more time to make certain the heads are clean.
if you haven't ever had your computer cleaned inside you should have someone that know what they are doing to open up the case and clean it out or you'll just have noithing but trouble.
DO NOT OPEN THE CASE AND TRY TO CLEAN IT YOURSELF OR YOU'LL PROBABLY BREAK OR DISLODGE SOMETHING!
cd and dvd recording lenses need to be cleaned occasionally as well.
don't bother trying to get a hard drive cleaning kit. those drives are sealed and there is no way to clean them.

Insert the floppy, go to "My Computer", click on that, right click on A Drive, select format (quick format is fine). Anything on the floppy will be erased.

Try to open this same disk at another computer. It maybe your floppy drive is acting up or messed up. If it opens on another trminal, you're lucky. If it says the same message- your disk is corrupted. THat means the data stored is lost and the disk won't be readable anymore.
Backup your stuff please.

Your disk is no good. Everything on it is lost. Use email as a backup. I do.
When you copy to a floppy, send an email to yourself with the diskette files as an attachment. If the floppy goes bad, just get to your email and download the attachment.
Better yet is the flash drive. But on some public computers you don't have access to the ports.

Hi there..
The Champ here!
The floppy drive's connection may have got loose!
Try to take it out (with guidance of someone coz of the wires behind) and give it a good brushing with sime painting brush or kinda thing. It must work out fine!
Or format the floppy and try it out again. If it still doesnt work, ur floppy drive's gone baby!
Take care and Njoi Life !!

well if the Floppy disk is new or never been used then format it, if it has files on it, then they're gone, most likley something happened to the disk and cant read the info now.

If its just that one disk ,that meens most likely the data that was on the disk is damaged or lost. You might be able to format the disk and us it again but you would loose everything you had on there.
If it says that will all your disks, you might just have to clean your disk drive with a cleaning disk

that means either the disk was never used on that operating system (windows or Mac) or the disk was dropped, bumped etc and now the data is lost
