six windows open, is it the same as having 6 tabs open? Just curious..thank you....and if you don't know what Firefox is, you should......

Yes mate. It significantly impacts the amount of resources consumed. Try this little experiment. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, after doing so, go to the Processes tab. Over there see how much memory is being consumed by the firefox.exe process. Now open a few tabs (preferably pages have a lot of MM content). U will observe that the amount of memory consumed has gone up by quite a lot. Now if u start surfing using all the tabs alternately.. then the memory consumption will increase further. This is because the browser cache's a certain number of previous pages (based on ur cache settings). Having multiple tabs increases the content to be stored in the cache and hence in the memory.
So end result--> YES ! Opening multiple tabs DOES impact the resource consumption


Added: When you open 6 different windows, the overheads are greater. This is because the browser has to have some "common stuff" re-entered into the memory for each instance of its running. Although it is rather debatable whether the resource consumption is markedly more than the "6 tabs". It varies depending on the type of site opened. The current operating environment...etc
