The pain should subside within a day. If it hasn't, you may have infection. To get rid of it (and keep from returning), use POST style earrings for at least 3 months. Rinse earrings in peroxide, then be sure to dip the post (or wires in future) into triple antibiotic OINTMENT. That will inhibit infection and make earrings slip in easily. Also be sure to keep the post earrings in 24 hrs a day (except to clean them) for at least 1 month. You'll be fine, don't worry!

Your ear should NOT be in pain. It might be sore but no pain should be involved unless it is irritated from getting caught in your hair or being slept on. Either way you have to be cautious it might be infected. You should probably take some sort of antibiotic or purchase a cream from a pharmacy. Be careful, it isn't a pretty site when it becomes the size of a golf ball.
If you'd like to keep it simple, drop a tylenol or two down your pipe. : )

If you are not allergic you can take Advil or Motrin or other ibuprofin product.
Also Alcohol and Peroxide are major no no's on piercings as is any kind of ointment!
Alcohol and peroxide are to harsh and just iritate piercings, while ointments stop oxygen from getting to the area thus making it take longer to heal.

I find that triple polysporin is the best that I have found. It is also good on earring studs of all earring, in the event that your ears might flare up from earrings. I use it on all my earrings for that particular reason. i hope this helps.

you may have an infection, that means using rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and cleaning the area. also clean you earrings with alcohol. Depending on the pain and if there is no infection use aloe vera gel.

Use Bactine. It is in a white bottle with green and red on it. It is near the band aid section. It is a first aid antiseptic with also a pain reliever in it as well.

Make sure to keep it clean by using peroxide or alcohol. You could ambesol or some topical cream that numbs pain, like teething gel for babies.

Put something really cold on it to numb it. (You can also pinch yourself somewhere else while you are piercing your ears.)
