As with any profession, it depends on the individual.

The thing about attorneys that most people find annoying is their ability and tendency to use language precisely, rather than careless or casually. So, they split semantic hairs and make find distinctions in their words, which makes what they are saying literally true, even if they know it is going to be misunderstood.

As a profession, attorneys are one of the few that require absolute honesty with their clients, and with the courts. Sadly, too many attorneys do not follow those rules, and get in the habit of bending the truth, or outright lying, because they get away with it.

It gives the entire profession a bad name, becuase when an attorney (or anyone else) gets away with breaking the rules without punishment, people start to think the rules don't matter.

I know many attorneys. Most are decent people, at least in their personal lives. I get the feeling that many attorneys who go before the court are dishonest in their professional lives. I have met some really troubled attorneys in my life to the point that I'd rather have my children be garbage collectors than attorneys.

Attorneys are no different than other people. Most are honest, some are not. it just depends on the person.

It depends on the attorney... you can't say people are honest in general because it depends on the person.

Most are honest, but some are not. Unfortunately, the dishonest lawyers are the ones who make the news.

It depends on the attorney, but like most people they are willing to look the other way as far as ethical misdeeds are concerned, just like msot business people, politicians, etc...

Most of them try to stay legal. As some guy once said, "It depends on how you define 'honest'."

Generally they are honest. But exceptions are everywhere. There are black sheep in every trade and profession.

What a ridiculous question. You can't throw everyone from any profession/race/religoin into any category like that? Do you do that with other classifications of people?
