Verbal bashing is becoming popular due to the funny guys on TV; Carson, Letterman, Mencios, Ted Koppel (serious guy who comes off funny).
Reality is that communication within the House of Representative, and Senate use more formal ways of communicating. Remember communicating is speaking and listening. So, our elected officials are listening to our (we the ppl) needs, and the other representatives (needs of other ppl) ... in turn they are telling other representatives our needs, and coming to compromises.
The non-official unity of all 50 states speaking English, the unity of the same currency, and unity of military allow 50 states to ask and receive stuff based on their needs. Very amazing really when you think about how 50 independant states (differet laws, cultures, geography + more) can peacefully work together. Utah is not waging war on New Mexico over religious beliefs. California (Hollywood) can make movies about anything without being cut off from transportation & water (economic embargo). Rather, with ppl we elect, we have them bring our wants and needs for us.
If you ever do write to your elected official, please do not use the same language you use here, or see from ppl like Ted Kopple. A traditional formal letter will address what is good and what needs improvment.

I've done a lot of travel and seen a lot of places. (and hope to see more) but on the whole we are a pretty darn good nation filled with so many blessings that we just do not realize how lucky we are. That is what is so neat about the legal immigrants that come over here. They see hope in what we only take for granted. We have a great nation, yes we do.

We really do have a great place here. Right now though, at war, our troops are exposed to danger and their operations cost is high. Its not just that we have spent one-third of a trillion dollars, we have also killed more people than all the American casualties in Vietnam. Conspiracy theories are all around. People are disappointed to say the least. Many believe any effort to straighten out the middle east is futile.

I am Canadian. I love American people and I love America. That is why I am so critical of your present government. This administration goes against everything democratic and everything America used to stand for. I don't know where you went wrong but please wake up and realize there is a lot rotten in the state of America. All the power is in the hands of the wrong people. Your president has always been MY president but I am ashamed of this one and so should you be.

No, it's the other way around. Our country was founded on great ideas that allow and encourage our citizens to let the government know when they are wrong.
