The first thing I would ask is, 'do you have regular smear tests?' if the answer is no, then you have to have this done. My period became irregular due to abnormal cell grouth, which I had treatment for and am now fine:-)
The second thing I would say is 'pregnancy tests are almost always accurate!'
Thirdly, you seem really concerned about this, have you been to your doctor? This is the last, but most crucial point. Most doctors will tell you that if you have notived a change over a 10-12 month period then you may have problems, but you ALWAYS get these thing checked out. Best of luck!

You can get a false negative. You can NEVER get a false positive. The tests actually test for HCG hormone. If the hormone is present - then you are pregnant. However, in some cases, the level of HCG can be so low, that it's not yet detectable until several weeks or a couple of months into the pregnancy.
If you're worried, then you can always go get a blood test -- these are much more sensitive and more accurate.
Be aware also, that if you're worrying and stressed out - this can cause you to miss your period. Personally, I'd just go get a blood test and put my mind at ease;).
Hope this is of some help.
Good luck - I hope it turns out the way you want.

They can be wrong. When I was trying to get pregnant I did tests obsessively and they kept coming back negative, so I decided to stop wasting my money and wait for my period and then try again. My period didn't come, so did another test a couple of months later which was positive. I had been pregnant the whole time, so I am a bit dubious about the results of pregnancy tests.

I had the same problem, home tests showed negative. I went to the Dr. and the first few urine test showed not or possible but eventually a blood test was done and showed positive...so it is possible.
I was almost 6 weeks pregnant before they did a bllod test. Unfortunately, the Dr. started treating me for irregular periods before that with Provera thinking I wasn't pregnant. Ends up I was....so I had a "high risk" pregnancy.

It is very possible that you could be pregnant. I bled with my son for the first 3 months. They were not regular periods though, I bled very lightly and yes, it is very normal to bled in the first tri-mester, after that, a doctor should be aware of the spotting. I would go and get a blood test done and make an appointment to see the gyno. Hope all turns out well.

I am 14 weeks pregnant and let me tell you those pregnancy test can really only detect a large amount of hormones. ALL of my home test came back negative. I knew I felt pregnant so I went to the doc anyway and confirmed I was. Don't stress about it and trust you instincts.

tests are 99% accurate, so go to the Dr's and ask them to referrer you to a gynaecologist. Because you are worried about your period this can also stop them from coming.
