Any word yet on the promised movies?

Yes, apparently HBO made a deal with David Milch to bank two full feature films to "wrap up the series" since it was supposed to go another full season. That's how he wrote it, for 4 seasons, but he could expand it if it went longer. But to cut it short like they did left a lot of plot hanging. Damned HBO!

Oh and the language, yes it's bad. But back in the days of Deadwood (1876) it was a rough and tumble mining town and people used very awful language for their day. To use that language now would not be shocking in the least. David Milch decided to use MODERNLY shocking language to give a taste of how truly brash the place and people were.

Even though I thought Season 3 fell off quite a bit in quality, it remained excellent television, and I certainly miss it.

HBO may be cursable, but at $5M/episode, Deadwood was extremely expensive.

Milch, of course, is developing another series for HBO - another factor in how HBO wanted to spend its money and resources.

Regarding the movies, W. Earl Brown (Dan) indicated on his MySpace blog a month ago that filming is tentatively scheduled for Spring/Summer 2007 but that the actors weren't eager to sign until there was a firm time commitment.

Nope. Too much crapy language. I like swearing at times but not that much. I seriously doubt that in the cowboy days people said f**k that much. Never heard of it becoming a movie.
