Whenever I bring up a success of mine, one of my friends brings up the fact that I made a mistake back in my first year of college (I partied too hard and studied too little) Should I tell her to quit demeaning my successes?

as a side note: i have my PhD and she never finished her bachelors. (not that there is anything wrong with that, it just might be the source of her jealousy...)

Yes, you are a doctor how awesome is that? The fact that you have even made it that far speaks volumes of your character. You are hard working and successful if someone cannot be happy for you, then they are jealous of you . If you can't find a dude it might be because you are picky. If you look anything like the avatar there, then why the hell is no one going out with you.

Ask her why she can't celebrate your success with you? When she brings it up just agree with her that yes you made the mistake and have learned from it to put it behind you and no longer need to be reminded of it.
Sounds like she is a bit jealous of your successes, or at least wants to be more successful then you. She wants to dominate the relationship in regards of achievements.

Yes!
And what is the reason she keeps on bringing up your past? Is there something she herself can't get over, and is trying to bring you down at the same time? Perhaps she doesn't want you to move on with your life in regards to that year.
Gently confront her and ask her not to bring it up again, our of respect for you and how you have changed your life around - you simply do not want to hear it anymore.
If she doesn't respect your wishes... find a new friend.

Hell yeah you should! So what if you partied a lil' too hard. You're entitled! What matters is that you got it all together and are successful now.

I think I would just laugh it off and say yeah but look at me now! Maybe if you rub that in enough she will get sick of hearing it so she will stop saying it to you. If it doesnt bother you what can she say?

Either ignore her remarks if she makes any again or else tell her straight away to stop

No, just get a new friend--a real one who encourages your self-esteem vs. this loser who is obviously jealous, competitive and mean-spirited.
