You don't actually find genuine friends these days. I am of the opinion that if you are friends with a gay man, you should find some degree of genuineness in his friendship. Go, give it a try and tell me again.

everyone is selfish, you have to be. Everyone needs to be selfish to a certain degree, cause everyone needs to do whats best for them. The whole relationship is a give and take really. But I feel that a true friend may be selfish in a while, and I might not get what I want (me with a selfish state of mind), but then the next time they are put out cause they agree to do what I want. Its life. Don't get too hung up on it though. Live.

Most of the time when I feel this way it is because I am the one who has become very selfish and self-centered. I look to seriously at myself and become introspective and get down and throw a pity party for myself.
The best way to find genuine friends is to be one. Be a person of character and good values and take yourself lightly. I was just at a funeral for a woman who was 84 and those sharing about her said her favorite saying when we were having a stressful time was, "By this tomorrow, it will all be over."
Other times when I feel they way you have stated is when other people have let me down right at the time I have needed them. The trust factor throws me for a loop, but I know I cannot get bitter nor forgive them because that makes ME a bitter person and I don't want to be like that. So I move on, guard my heart and rely on friends I KNOW are routing for me. :) Take heart! Don't lose it.

Very good question. I have always been a generous person to the point where people will say my friends are using me. Here is the thing though if I let a friend use my washer and dryer and we sit and chat shave the dog with my now exes electric shaver and have a few good laughs(cuz we dont tell him till 2 months later that we shaved the dogs butt with his razor!) Is that really her using me or us just having a good time. true story about the razor lmao.

Yeah, it's hard. This world's going mad. Just remember to always let them know that they're acting selfish, and be their friend anyway. Stay strong, you'll find people who treat you the right way. Good luck, buddy.

There are different ways to know your true friends - years ago I started having depression and I did the usual depression thing and started pushing all my friends away - After all that I still had about 5 friends - years on these are the people I still consider my true friends as they stuck by me even though I was pushing them away.

I'd like to know where I could find some genuine friends too. I have met only one in my 29 years of being alive.

Now a days a friend is ur worst enemy so don't expect to find a loyal and sincere friend because u will never find one. So whnever i need a friend to share my problem i pray to God and my problem get solved in few days and God is the only one who never disclose my secrets to anyone. So i don't need any friend when He is with me.
