Judges usually prefer songs which truly show your talent. You need to sing something in which you have to hold notes for a long time and that goes both high and low. Kelly Clarkson and Martina McBride are good at both of these things, so why don't you try one of their songs? How about Because of You by Clarkson or Broken Wing by McBride?

You can try:

Celine Dion - To Love You More

Mariah Carey - Hero

Mariah Carey - I'll Be There (Jackson 5 cover)

Sarah Mclachlan - Angel

Evanescence - My Immortal

Christina Aguilera - I Turn To You

Christina Aguilera - The Voice Within

Sara Evans - Backseat Of A Greyhound Bus

Anywayz, good luck with your singing competition.

When I do singing competitions, I always find a song that accomplishes four things:

1. A song that nobody else is likely to sing.
2. A song that is right at the high end of my range, so I can really belt it out and show a lot of emotion.
3. A song that is a real crowd pleaser. Keep it upbeat and try to get the crowd to clap behind you.
4. A song that allows me to show off some attitude (I mean that inspires me to really get into what I am singing).

Good luck to you and have a fantastic day. Let me know how you did.

You could try "The Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston or "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. Try to find something that you can emotionally connect with, it will make it so much easier to connect with your audience through the song.

You could try "I Drove All Night" by Celine Dion also. Lots of long holds and high notes. Another good one might be "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack/covered by the Fugees.

Try doing All by myself by Celine Dion, I think you are on a good wicket, if you did one of her songs and won......she has many fantastic songs, but i think this would be a good one for you, just dont forget to warm up drink lots of water before hand, lip bubbling and tounge curls .... and good luck i hope you win......

Pick something that shows off your voice, entertains the crowd, and bring lots of friends. Most are judged 40% vocals, 40% stage presence, and 20% audience participation/reaction. -Good luck
