Help!!
Microsoft update installed an automatic update to my driver for C-Media AC 97 device. Now I no longer have any sound as the device manager shows there is no driver installed now. If you or anyone else knows how to fix this problem. please let me know. Thanks so much.

You may be able to 'roll-back' the driver for it,... IF the option to do it is there,.. if not,.. you COULD try a 'System-Restore' if you set-up the System Restore function on your PC (Only Windows XP I think has Sys' Rest', I may be wrong),....

A lesson for you to learn...do not have automatic updates configured to automatically download & install. Always be able to choose what to install. With regard to updating drivers etc (not security updates) .. stick to the old adage "if it ain't broken don't fix it".
Good luck with your sound I am sure you will get it fixed ..but what an unneccessary pain eh?

If you still had the CD driver for the sound card the re-install it. If not then download driver from the internet.
Note: Check the manufacturer of your sound card. If built in then check the CPU manufacturer.
