Nascar today is not much more then a joke. After the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr. nascar has become a joke to me at times. There are a few names that have made Nascar Famous. Those names are Allen Kulwicki who put every penny he had into the sport he loved. Dale Earnhardt Sr. who made his name a common household name. Richard Petty who never gave up. and finally Cale Yarborough. With nascar's B.S. rules today im sick of it. There is one driver who name I will not mention is the biggest nascar crybaby I have ever seen in my life. I have been a nascar fan for many yrs and have yet to see any driver gripe and complain the way the driver of the #24 does. (See I did not mention his name)I want to see racing the way it was 20 yrs ago before all the B.S. started. Back then it was driver vs. driver. Today it seems its sponser vs sponser. If your going to race, then let the drivers race! No more of the freeze the field crap on a caution. THATS NOT RACING! I want to see racing as it was yrs ago!!

Freezing the field keeps the people who have to clean up, as well as the EMTs, from getting hurt. There's a real and true reason for that rule, and we've all seen it.

I think that either everyone should be allowed to clang and bang or nobody should--no more of these capricious penalties! And the cussing penalty has *got* to go. And if there were more fistfights, there'd probably be less aggression on the track.

I have only been a fan for 5 years, but I understand what you mean. What you are saying echoes what people used to say about the NFL. A few years some dogsledders in the Ididarod felt the same thing was happenning, they got together and started another race called Quest. It runsfrom Fairbanks, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. It changes direction each year. There is no media hoopla or large prizes. The sledders control it. It is just a bunch of mushers having a race, just like the old days. I know this will never happen in NASCAR, but something similar would be nice.

I've only been a NASCAR fan for a year I always paid some attention to it, but in the last year I have followed it almost exclusivley. And I agree. So last week I went to my local short track (I have not been for years) and really enjoyed the show way better than the NASCAR commercial marathon on TSN I live in Canada. So I think that type of racing can still be seen in or around your town.

I go way back in the NASCAR fan base.My first race was in August of 1960,Dixie speedway,Midfield Alabama. This was when NASCAR drivers were the "Ironmen",they would race 2,3,4 nights aweek.Dixie was a 1/4 mile asphalt track. This night the race started 16 cars including Lee,Richard, and Maurice Petty. But the race was won by Ned Jarrett.200 laps on a 1/4 mile(some of todays drivers would whine it's too hard.)
As for the #24,I remember when it was driven by Cecile Gordon in the 70's and by Micky Gibbs in th1990 and/or 1991.Too bad about today.

Yep, I bear in ideas WAYYYY back in 2005 that they had all 5 drivers interior the chase (out of 10) and ended up with 2d, third and 4th positions. Greg has been down on his success the previous 2 years. After being tied for 2d in 2005 he has had some terrible success. final year he led laps and continually looked as though it would have solid autos yet the two wrecked or blew an engine. i assumed for particular he may be back interior the mixture this year. He merely hassle-free hasn't had that solid of kit this year and that they provide the impact of being lacking the setup greater circumstances than not. i don't probable understand how the ninety 9 and 17 may be so aggressive and the 26 and sixteen are not? Jack admitted he neglected the boat on attempting out the COT earlier this year in spite of the undeniable fact that evidently they are back on the ultimate music now. i don't think of you will see them fall at the back of like that returned, exceedingly while they had to paintings so confusing just to get caught back up.

It's obvious you don't like Jeff Gordon, but when it comes to whining and crying, there are quite a few others that would fit the mold also, and I won't mention any numbers. There are some things from the old days I would like to see back, but racing to the yellow is not one of them. NASCAR is lucky no one got killed by doing that, drivers or track workers. If you dislike it so much, don't watch.

Just keep remembering the old days of racing. The sport has had to evolve in order to be competitive in the media market. It may have alienated a lot of fans, but you can rest assured that there are many more that have become fans because of the exposure.

I am like you in that the old days was much better racing. However, there isn't much we can do to change things ourselves, so I guess we better enjoy it or move on. For now, I still tune in on Sundays so it must not be all that bad.

You are forgetting one of the greatest drivers of all time David Pearson. By far the smartest driver to ever wheel a car on any track!

i agree...you have to watch what you say because of the media..i remember the days they would settle differences behind the garages,,,,and that was it.no every where you turn they have camera's and mike's shoved in front of there face right after the race...they don't let them have time to "cool there heels" before they want an interview....i always heard stories of #3 always stepping on the toes of the people who was interviewing him, i wonder if any other driver does that!

I grew up watching the legends build the sport of stock car racing. You are right .It's just not the same as it was then.I miss it but unfortunately it has become big business like all the other pro sports.
