I'm 27 and I need ideas for meeting people and just having fun in the community.

I know how you feel. I'm 30. My wife just turned 29 this week. We don't have many friends that we do stuff with. Alot of our friends have kids or careers that don't jive with our own. Everybody is tired. Nobody wants to commit to a "poker night" or dinner and a movie, or even a concert. It's hard. We have a 2 year old, but we only get offers to go watch Dora or the Wiggles. No dancing, no ballgames, no shopping, no anything. And our single friends that have no attachments, don't want to do much with each other too, yet they complain too.
Me, I like backyard bbqs, making fun of people at the mall, and playing a little trivia at BW3s. I wish I lived at Disney World.

Depending on what your in to........I'm also 27 and I enjoy hanging out at other friends houses, cooking out, having a few drinks, playing some card games or what-not. Also, I joined a Bunco group that consist of girls my age and we have a BLAST. It's once a month. Too long to actually explain what the game is, but I'm sure you can look it up on the internet. We have 12 girls and each girl picks a month to have it at their house. We cook, drink, and then play bunco. Sounds cheezzy, but something to do. I got so sick of the bar scene. That gets old real quick!! Good luck.

What do you like to do? If you like playing pool or darts, then the answer's easy. Just find the right bar. Or you could join a community theater, chess club, gun club, Renaissance Faire, or any other type of group in your community that sounds interesting. Or just hang out at bookstores, malls, etc.
As I said, the question isn't what other 27 year olds do. The question is what do you like to do?

I consider a rousing game of duplicate bridge fun. How about serving lunch at a soup kitchen for the needy. Donate a pint of blood. Clean an old or disabled person's home. Become a big sister.
Or did you mean getting drunk.
