Why do women get period pain?

What does it do and why do some suffer more than others?

Oh there's a real answer alright! Don't let that person mislead you. Prostaglandins are chemicals produced by a woman's body. They trigger uterine contractions that expel the uterine lining during menstruation. Women who have higher levels of prostaglandins tend to have more vigorous contractions (cramps) and thus more pain. The converse is true, that women with lower levels of prostaglandins have less painful menstrual cramps. Some women have no pain at all. And to complicate matters even more, a woman may produced different levels of prostaglandin with each cycle and throughout her ovulating life-span resulting in varied levels of pain or discomfort each month.

It ALL has to do with the perpetual fluctuation of hormone levels that we women have to deal with throughout our adult lives. It is an unfortunate imbalance in the human condition, and there's not a darned thing you can do for it except to treat the symptoms.

Some women have an easier time of it than others during their periods for the same reason that some women have easy-as-pie pregnancies and others wish they could die. Its because EVERYONE is different....different chemistries, body-types, pain tolerance levels, personalities, etc.

Because it is Eve's "curse" and men can't, so once again we have to do it all and bear it all!! Oh, and you ain't felt nothing yet... wait till you squeeze out that first 8 pounder!! Take some Tylenol.
