re gbs, I have no idea, I'm not sure if the dr's did really they just thought it was something that may have caused my prem labours, and screened me every few weeks from 20 weeks to 36 weeks for gbs and when it showed treated me with antibiotics, It did the trick with my 2nd and 4th baby! But 1st baby waters ruptured at 33 weeks and then had him at 33 weeks, my 3rd baby waters went at 30 weeks but i managed to hold on to her until 33 weeks before i gave birth!

I was taken into hospital at 28 weeks with my first baby because I had pre-eclampsia. Managed to get to almost 34 weeks. She was only 3 lbs 13 oz but was breathing independently (probably because of the injections I had in my backside in the weeks before she was born to mature her lungs). She's 7 now and still small for her age but perfectly healthy.
My son was a completely different story. Born at full term he was 10 lb 1 oz. But I had group b strep which caused him to get an infection. I was told this was because there was a long gap between my waters breaking and him being born. He had a lumbar puncture at 3 days old. Thankfully he was fine but apparently gbs can cause meningitis so he was on antibiotics for a bit. Didn't realise it could cause premature labour though.

My Jake was born at 26 weeks due to toxemia. He weighed 2 lbs. 5 oz. and was 15 3/4 inches long. He will turn 10 next week, and is as healthy as a horse! He had health problems as a baby (reflux, colic, ear infections, etc), but at age 3, he had his tonsils and adnoids removed, and has never had another problem since then. He does struggle with ADD, which I've read can be due to his prematurity. He's still a very small boy (is about 4'5 and weighs about 45 lbs.), and most of his friends tower over him. But, for the most part, he's a happy, healthy kid. My other pregnancies were fine and went to term.

I had a 36 weeker. She weighed 3 lbs 3 ozs, 15 inches long. She had intrauterine growth restriction- my placenta wasn't working right to give her the nutrients she needed to keep growing. I had preterm labor at 27 weeks and was put on bedrest of the remainder of my pregnancy. The day I got to 36 weeks, my doctor took my off bed rest, stopped my meds and that night, my water broke. She was born 7.5 hours later. She was in the NICU for almost a month, on a vent for less then 24 hours, CPAP for less then 12, then room air. She is 2 now and is healthy and happy. Her pic, along with her sister, is my avatar. She is small for her age, but she will always be small. She has no ill effects from being a premmie, and is smarter then a whip!! We were lucky. I know many parents who aren't as lucky as us. How premmie was yours? What was your experience? I would like to hear how everything turns out!!

My daughter was born at 28 weeks and there was no explanation. She was born perfectly healthy for being 2 and 1/2 lbs. She breathed on her own from day one without needing help. Most of the time doctors dont know why a baby is a premature.

My daughter was born right on time, but my niece was born at 30 weeks. My SIL has epilepsy, and had a highly complicated pregnancy due to the medications she was on (the pregnancy was unplanned and they couldn't change them during pregnancy). She was born around 3 lbs, and was in the NICU for over a month. She had bad asthma, but has since outgrown it. She just had her 4th birthday, and is a normal, healthy child! She also had a sibling on the way (due in 2 weeks) luckily THIS time was planned and they were able to get her on a better medication that wouldn't cause so many problems. I'm sorry you've been through so much hell with your kids, but I'm glad they're all healthy!

My waters broke (no explanation) at 29wks, I had 2 scans and 2 traces a week till my 5lb son was born at 33wks after I was induced due to decreased movement. No reason has ever been offered why and when I fall pregnant again I will have to have consultant led care. My boy is 15 months now doing great!

My first son was born a preemie at 34wks. I had a seizure and feel and they had to induce me b/c they were scared that If they released me to go home that I would have another seizure, the crazy thing Is that I didn't have high blood pressure, or anything else wrong I was perfectly normal, they said that It's something that they can't explain, I have never had another seizure, so I'm thankful. Thank the Lord that my second son was born at 42wks. with no problems and I'm now 38wks. pregnant with my daughter and I have not had any problems. I hope my answer was able to help you out.

I had pre-eclampsia and had to have an emergency cesaerian at 29 weeks, which was very traumatic. Everything was fully explained by the medical profession, though it did not make the news any easier to digest. My twins weighed 2lb 6oz and 2lb 10oz. Both stayed in hospital until they gained enough weight, and were allowed home at two months old. The twins are approaching 20 years old now, and to look at them, you would never believe the trauma I faced many years ago.
