If I'm stuck in snotty traffic, and getting really, really pissed off, if I happen to hear 'The Dock of the Bay' by Otis Redding my blood pressure drops about 30 points.
Is there a song like that for you?

The Morning Paper by Smog, because it's a beautiful, mellow song and it opens with the lines:
The morning paper is on it's way,
it's all bad news on every page,
so roll right over, and go to sleep,
the evening sun will be so sweet.
How can that not make you raise a little smile?

the first set of the dead at englishtown, nj 9/3/77, the first set of the dead at winterland, sf 12/29/77 which has one of the best sugarees ever, the second set of phil at the lawn at white river, indy 7/15/2006, the scarlet>fire>shakedown is really sick, and if i were stuck in traffic it could be a dancefest. that's what comes to mind first. now that you said the big o, i think i'll put on the dock of the bay album.

Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber.
The adagio for strings especially. It's a very calming, relaxing peaceful song.

'Everything Merges With The Night' by Brian Eno. It's not one of those airy, ambient pieces he's become (in)famous for, it actually has lyrics.

"Jump Around" by House Of Pain does it for me. I imagine listening to it while I beat the hell out of whomever I'm angry at, and a smile comes to my face.
